For the second race weekend in a row rookie Pro Jodi Christie has made the podium with a 2nd place in the Parts Canada PRO 600 and with that taking an early season points lead in the class, also Jodi had a very strong 5th in the Pro 6 Cycle Superbike feature. “It was a difficult weekend for the team” states Christie “the weather was all over the place, rain, wind, cold or all of them together, it was crazy. The Ontario Honda Power House/ ProStar Motorsports team came to the track prepared and our CBR600RRs are just getting better with time, we had a strong test day but we knew we had to be careful as we have the first National at Calabogie Ontario just a couple of days away so this was a test as much as a race for us” With National stars Kevin Lacombe, Andy Nelson, Frank Trombino and Karl Diagle in attendance the weekend shaped up to be a mini National, with Saturdays weather being very uncooperative the Pro 600 and Superbike races were run in very trying conditions “The 600 race was scary, it was raining and the team took a best guess at chassis set up and it worked great, the Pirelli tires stuck very well, the Honda CBR600RRs ran strong and I have my first Pro race win, it’s a heat race win! But its still a win” smiled Jodi
“We just needed to get through this weekend” comments Ben Gartner of ProStar “the schedule is a bit crazy right now and we have little to no down time, we have our sponsors working overtime to help get us into shape for the National series, Scott Miller of Fast Company, Blue Streak Racing, Hindle and a special thanks to Mimic Industries and James Collins who I don’t believe has slept in the last month trying to get stuff out to us (and other race teams) painted and ready to use” continues Gartner “we had a small tip over in the chicane on Sunday morning which is not what Jodi or the team needed, but the damage was minimal and Jodi was able to put in two very strong races Sunday afternoon………. 2nd and a 5th against some great talent and we were not at our best, it was very satisfying for Jodi and the team”.
“It has been non stop” states Joel Nodell ProStar owner “we are either on the phone, on the road or in the shop or at the dyno trying to get caught up. The weekend was very hard on the team, with the first National just around the corner and racing at the regional and us still not at 100% with the bikes and parts and………we need to get caught up, we are looking forward to the upcoming two week break” states Nodell “I don’t want to make excuses, we took this deal on and are moving forward, we can’t thank Scott, James, Lang, Tony or RozGar Racing enough for there commitment in this deal they are true professionals (and parents) and are showing it with there tireless commitment to Jodi’s program. I must admit seeing Jodi’s performance and the progress the team is making at the regional’s against the odds I’m very proud and pleased with the team’s performance”
Next up for Jodi and the team is round one of the Parts Canada SuperBike Nationals at Calabogie Motorsport Park May 21-24
